The International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) is a competition for school students under 20 years of age, where the contestants compete individually to solve a set of programming problems.
The main goals of the IOI are to stimulate interest in Informatics and to encourage exceptionally talented students from various countries to share their scientific and cultural experiences.
If you were born after the 1st of July, 1988 and are in school / a first year university student, you too can take part in the IOI. You should be able to program in either C++, Java, C# or VB.NET
In order to take part, simply fill in the application form located at http://www.ioi.lk/register.php. Registrations will be accepted upto the 24th of February, 2008.
After registering, you will have to solve several problems and submit them online to this website (more details are available after registration).
The high scorers will then be called for a screening test (on the 15th of March, 2008) to select the National IOI pool. All candidates with a score of 60% or more will be awarded a performance certificate as well.
After a period of training, several more tests will be used to select the lucky four who will get to travel to Cairo, Egypt to take part in the international competition, in August. All travel and accommodation costs will be borne by the organizers.
